Faulkner University wrapped up a years-long, almost $20 million project Friday morning with the dedication of a home for the College of Health Sciences.
Located at the former Montgomery East Plaza Shopping Center, the project covers 151,000 square feet of storefront property, and 13 acres. The new building sits adjacent to the Faulkner’s main campus, with a new pedestrian bridge now adjoining the main campus and the sprawling complex. The university bought the property in the summer of 2020.
The work began in 2020, and the price tag is about $19 million. Faulkner is a private university affiliated with the Church of Christ. The new building was a Burlington Coat Factory location and before that home to HQ Home Center.
Now it houses the university’s new nursing school along with its speech pathology, physician assistant, physical therapy and occupational therapy departments. The complex also houses the college’s clinic.

“There are two purposes… to provide Christian health education and free, student assisted, therapy in our clinic,” said Faulkner President Mitch Henry.
Since its inception in 2018, the College of Health Sciences’ clinic has treated more than 37,000 adults and children. There is no charge for clinic visits.
The majority of the funding for the project came from donors. The development of the facility took place over three phases.
