Google partners with Andhra Pradesh to accelerate AI adoption in healthcare, sustainability, and startups – Technology News
Google has officially announced a strategic partnership with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to drive the widespread adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across the state. The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to implement AI solutions in key sectors such as healthcare, sustainability, and digital infrastructure, while also fostering the local startup ecosystem and promoting AI skills development for students and professionals.
The MoU was signed in Amaravati, with important figures in attendance, including Nara Lokesh, the Minister for Information Technology, Electronics, and Communications, Andhra Pradesh; Bikram Singh Bedi, Vice President and Country Managing Director of Google Cloud India; and S. Suresh Kumar, Secretary of Real-Time Governance Society, Andhra Pradesh. This partnership highlights a shared vision of advancing the state’s development using cutting-edge AI technology.
The collaboration will focus on several key initiatives to promote AI across various sectors such as skill development and education, startup ecosystem, sustainability and healthcare. Google will provide 10,000 certificates for its Google AI Essentials course, designed to equip students, developers, and professionals with essential AI skills. The program aims to bridge the AI skills gap in India and empower individuals with the tools to thrive in an AI-driven economy. Additionally, Google will offer certifications in cybersecurity, data analytics, and generative AI, along with resources for educators to enhance computer science education.
Google will partner with the local startup ecosystem to encourage innovation. By offering mentorship, networking opportunities, and access to Google’s accelerator programs, Google aims to help AI startups scale their operations. Eligible startups will also receive cloud credits and technical support to grow their businesses.
Google will collaborate with the Andhra Pradesh government to apply AI in tackling challenges related to sustainability, including air quality management and urban planning. In healthcare, AI will be used to improve patient outcomes and provide access to quality care through AI-powered imaging models and research initiatives.
The partnership will also see the launch of pilot projects in areas like agriculture, traffic management, and citizen services, to showcase how AI can enhance everyday life and solve real-world problems.
Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, welcomed the partnership, emphasizing that AI technology would help drive growth across the state.
