HYDERABAD, Aug 8: Dr BR Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU), Hyderabad, has been named among India’s Best 10 Business Schools for MBA in Healthcare Management – 2025 by Academic Insights, earning recognition for its pioneering role in healthcare management education.
In a statement here on Friday, Vice-Chancellor Prof Ghanta Chakrapani said the honour highlights the university’s innovative approach to quality management education through its MBA (Hospital and Health Care Management) programme, introduced in 2008 09 and comprehensively restructured in 2019 20. The course blends academic rigor with hands-on exposure through internships, hospital visits, and project work, preparing graduates for leadership roles in one of India’s fastest-growing sectors.
Recognised by the Distance Education Bureau (DEB) of the UGC, the programme uses a blended learning model combining self-learning materials, classroom instruction, audio-visual content, field visits, hospital internships, and expert-led seminars. Its curriculum covers hospital administration, patient care systems, medical technology, quality assurance, insurance, health policy, and analytics.
BRAOU has active collaborations with institutions such as Apollo Institute of Hospital Administration, KIMS School of Healthcare Management, and the Department of Hospital Management at Owaisi Group of Hospitals. These tie-ups provide students with real-world experience and have led to strong placement records, with alumni working as COOs, CEOs, and hospital managers at leading organisations including Apollo, KIMS, Yashoda, Care, Continental, and AIIMS, as well as in corporate giants like Wipro, Deloitte, and ICICI Lombard.
“This honour reflects our commitment to making world-class, industry-relevant healthcare management education accessible to diverse learners. Our focus on innovation, inclusivity, and practical readiness ensures our graduates are ready to lead in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape,” Prof Chakrapani said, congratulating Prof. Anand Pawar, Dean, Faculty of Commerce; Prof. Rabindranath Solomon, Head of the Department of Commerce; Prof. Kiranmayi; and Dr. Radhakrishna for their contributions.
Meanwhile, BRAOU has announced that the MBA and MBA (Hospital and Healthcare Management) Entrance Test 2025 will be held on August 24 (Sunday).
